About
Hi, I’m Kate!
Up until recently I was a mechanical engineer specializing in R&D and product development, and now I’m a software developer. As the tagline says, I like making stuff 😊
Starting out with a BSME from Georgia Tech, I’ve sought out unusual industries. I’ve developed fireproof and extreme weather cables and designed and installed parts for zip lines and roller coasters. I even went to Hawaii last summer to help install one! For fun, I taught myself Python on the side and all of a sudden I started seeing ways to use it at work. At my most recent job I wrote bash and Python scripts to automate work tasks, and at Autodesk I learned JavaScript to parse out what was happening with post processors. When I was downsized from ZipFlyer in the fall of 2019, I decided to use that as an opportunity to take the plunge and follow my passion for programming. I enrolled in Flatiron School and graduated in late April 2020, and here I am, looking for a software developer / software engineer position!
(If you’re hiring or know someone who is, please shoot me a note or connect with me on LinkedIn!)

What is “kateapault”?
“Kate” + “catapault” = my college nickname. As for the spelling, it’s an alternate of “catapult” that I picked because I like how digraphs look.
How cute is your dog?
INCREDIBLY.
